TOEFL EXAM TIPS & TRICKS

Test of English as a Foreign Language checks the student’s Basic English learning abilities.

  • The test is conducted by ETS organization.
  • The Test is divided into 4 sections:  Listening, Reading, Writing and Speaking.
  • The Computer based test is of 120 marks with each section weighing 30 marks.
  • The Paper based test is of 600 marks with each section weighing 150 marks.
  • The Test Score is accepted in the countries like USA, Australia, United Kingdom, Germany and France.
  • Score Validity: 2 Years
  • Duration of the Test: 4 hours

TIPS

Here are some tips which can help you achieve better Marks in TOEFL.

  1.  Listening
  • Changing your lifestyle is the key.
  • Get as much exposure in English Language as possible.
  • Make a habit of listening in English. For example: watch English TV series or listen to English songs or watch English News Channel.
  • Make sure you are familiar to Different Kinds of accents.
  • Read the Questions in the question paper properly.
  • Read the Instructions given in the Question Paper Carefully.

     2. Reading

  • Make a habit of reading at least 2 pages in English Language.
  • There are various questions types asked in the paper. Make sure you know about them and you have practiced those question types.
  • Do NOT waste time on the question you are unable to find answers to.
  • Read the Questions in the question paper properly.

     3. Writing

  • Practice and Understand Grammar of the Language.
  • Writing a grammatically correct sentence is very important. The bands are deduced if the sentence formation is improper.
  • Check the spelling of the words you have written. The bands are deduced if the spellings are incorrect.
  • Learning new words everyday is also necessary. Your knowledge of English Vocabulary is also checked.
  • Read as many sample essays as you can.

    4. Speaking

  • Using Formal Language is important. Avoid the use of Slang or Informal Language or words.
  • Your Answer should be responsive and may contain necessary example.
  • Your Answer should be Fluent.
  • Avoid making any Grammatical errors in your sentences while speaking.
  • The answers need not be true or correct. The test is taken to check your English.
  • Start talking in English at least 2-3 minutes a day to gain confidence even if it is incorrect.
  • Proper Pronunciation of the words is very important.
