PTE EXAM TIPS & TRICKS
PTE stands for Pearson Test of English which is conducted by Pearson group. This is one of the tests taken by the students willing to study or work abroad.
- The test is mainly given for 2 purposes namely Academic and General.
- This test is divided in 3 sections: Reading, Listening, Writing and Speaking (together). All the modules will be in English Language.
- It is a Computer Based Test.
- It gives the result in 5 days.
- Score Validity: 2 Years.
- The test score is accepted by: UK, New Zealand and Australia.
- Test is 3 hours long.
- The test is of 90 Marks.
TIPS
Here are some tips which can help you achieve better score in your PTE Test.
Part 1: SPEAKING & WRITING
- This section is divided into a few sub-sections namely: Read Aloud, Repeat Sentence, Describe Image, Answer Short Question, Summarize Written Text and Write an Essay.
- These sub-sections are completed in 80-95 minutes.
SPEAKING
- Work on your Pronunciation every day.
- Read your Newspapers, Magazines, Novels Loudly to gain confidence.
- Listen very carefully to every word in the Repeat Sentence section and mark or note down the keywords.
- Memorize some words of the sentence for the Repeat Sentence section.
- While doing the describe image section start with sentence like “The given Bar chart\Flow chart\ Process illustrates\demonstrates\shows information\data on\about”.
- Use the words which describe the trend of the charts or process.
- In Retell lecture: Remember the keywords and tell the gist of the lecture in 3-5 sentences.
- In Answer the Short Question section: Answer in one-two words as the recording time is just 10 seconds.
WRITING
- The essay should be written in 20 Minutes with 200-300 words.
- Don’t start writing immediately.
- First Understand the topic and plan the structure of your essay.
- Work on your typing skills as this is a computer based test.
- Learn new words and their spellings every day to increase your vocabulary skills.
Part 2: READING (32-40 minutes)
- This section has some sub-sections namely: Choose ONE correct answer, Choose MULTIPLE correct answers, Fill in the Blanks (Reading), Fill in the Blanks (Reading and Writing) and Re-order the Paragraphs.
- Make sure that the sentences in the fill the blanks section are grammatically correct.
- In Choose the correct option section use Elimination method.
- Synonyms of some words might have been used so beware of those.
- Read Newspapers, Novels, Magazines every day for at least 2-3 Minutes.
Part 3: LISTENING (45-47 minutes)
- Changing your lifestyle is The Key.!
- Get as much exposure in English Language as possible.
- Listen to English Songs or watch English TV Series or English movies.
- The Listening Section includes various Sub-sections namely: Choose ONE correct answer, Choose MULTIPLE correct answer, Select the Missing word, Highlight correct Summary, Highlight incorrect word, Fill in the Blanks, Write from the dictation.
- Improve your listening skills.
- Try Elimination method for the Choose the correct answer type.
